With the deadly Ebola virus now present in the continental U.S., the Centers for Disease Control has published guidelines for safe handling of the remains of Ebola patients for personnel who perform post-mortem care.

Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all post-mortem personnel is essential. The CDC guidelines also address transportation, decontamination and disposition.
