"Coping with an Active Shooter Situation" 

Presented by Gary Schaaf, Executive Director, Archdiocese of Denver Mortuary

The modern funeral professional must be prepared to handle a number of unique situations that were beyond the imagination of their predecessors. This captivating session will raise your level of awareness and help you to better prepare and protect yourself, your employees, customers, and business when the unthinkable happens.

About the Presenter

Prior to his position as the Executive Director at the Archdiocese of Denver Mortuary, Gary Schaaf spent 20 years working as a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He served in several FBI Field Offices including Denver, Sacramento and Boston. In addition, he served in foreign assignments for several years in Dakar, Senegal; Ottawa, Canada; London, England; Riyad, Saudi Arabia; and Islamabad, Pakistan. 

While in the FBI, Schaaf worked a variety of investigative matters including Drug Investigations, Violent Crime Investigations, Counterterrorism and Counterintelligence. Schaaf was a member of the FBI's SWAT Team in Sacramento and supervised the FBI's SWAT Team in Denver.

Schaaf started his career as a police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department where he worked as a patrol officer and investigated gang-related activities.

Mr. Schaaf earned his bachelor's degree from Loyola Marymount University and a law degree from Gonzaga University.

Participants must complete the post-event evaluation form no later than Friday, May 18, to receive 1.0 contact hours of CE credit approved by the Colorado Funeral Service Board.
